Pastor Kristie

Large enough to serve, Small enough to care

Wow! August already?! It is hard to believe that it is already time for our children and grandchildren to start back-to-school. Let us be sure to pray for the school administrators, custodians, kitchen workers, bus drivers and of course, our teachers and children as they begin another year of serving and learning. Let us also keep the families of those who are going to school for the first time in our prayers, as the first day is difficult on the adults and the children. Let us also pray protection over our children and schools against threats of any kind.

August is a great month to evaluate where you are in your personal journey by examining your participation in Worship both personal and corporate; ways you Connect with others within the church; how you take advantage of opportunities to Grow in personal disciple-ship; how you take advantage of opportunities to Serve and Give to both our church and community; and, whether or not you take every opportunity to Share Jesus with everyone God places before you, as we find ways to live out our purpose to be “Disciples making Disciples to share the LOVE of Jesus Christ with our community and the world.”

This year, we are not waiting for September before we start our next Bible Study. On Wednesdays, August 7-September 11, at 6:00 p.m., we will dive into the “Short Stories by Jesus” by Amy-Jill Levine. For those of you who enjoyed our Lent study where she gave us a Jewish perspective on Holy Week, here we have an opportunity to gain in-sight from a Jewish perspective on the parables of Jesus. If you are ready to be challenged and to dive deeper into the Word of God, please plan to join us for this six-week study.
We will also be offering PATH classes (state required) for those interested in fostering, adopting or those who are finding them-selves with the responsibility of raising grandchildren or great grand-children. They will begin on Thursday, August 22-September 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you know of anyone who may be required to attend the state required PATH classes, this is an opportunity to get them locally.

As we continue to prepare our hearts, minds and spirits to grow in our relationship with God, may He who created the heavens and the earth, keep watch over you, reveal Himself to you and draw you ever closer to Him.

Our Mission:

Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Disciples Making Disciples

to share the LOVE of Jesus Christ
with our community and the world.

A disciple of Jesus Christ is one who:
Knows Him

Grows in Him
Serves Him
Shares Him with others.

A fresh, timely reinterpretation of Jesus’ narratives. In Short Stories by Jesus, Levine takes readers back in time to understand how their original Jewish audience understood them. She reveals the parables’ connections to first-century economic and agricultural life, social customs and morality, Jewish scriptures and Ro-man culture. With this revitalized understanding, she interprets these moving stories for the contemporary reader, showing how the parables are not just about Jesus, but are also about us—and when read rightly, still challenge and provoke us two thousand years later.
Study begins August 7th at 6pm. Cost is $10 for book.
